Riot of colour
Call it autumn or fall, the change of season is in full swing in the northern hemisphere. This woman stands in a field of fireweed, or Kochia scoparia, on a sunny autumn day at the Hitachinaka Seaside Park north of Tokyo.
In the “season of mists and mellow fruitfulness”, as the Romantic poet John Keats has it, days get shorter and temperatures dip. But pockets of mild weather aren’t so rare – what better excuse to get out there and savour the riot of colour.
