On the beaches of California, catching a wave isn’t just for dudes. Dogs are in on the surfing action too.

Cool canines and their owners took to the waves for the 7th annual "Surf City Surf Dog" contest at Huntington Dog Beach just outside Los Angeles.

The dogs competed in four weight-class divisions. They were judged on skills from the length of their ride to confidence on the board.
