Young Palestinians fight with swords as they demonstrate their ninja-style skills for these photos in the ruins of buildings, destroyed in the 2014 war, in the northern Gaza Strip.

Speed, flexibility and daring are on show. Then throw in a little fire blowing.

It’s a blend of Freestyle Nunchaku, street fighting and swordplay skills performed by a team of 10 youths, aged between 6 and 24.

“It’s tough training as we are highly exposed to injury,” said 16-year-old Mohammed Majed. “We like it because it strengthens our determination and enhances our personality.”

The practice sessions, three times a week, develop the team members’ intuition, self-confidence and mental agility, said trainer Ahmed Samour, 21, who set up the team.
