On the streets of Nepal
A man pulls on his clothes after taking a holy bath at a festival in the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu.
The image is one of many portraits of daily life in Nepal captured by Reuters photographer Navesh Chitrakar, who has spent years documenting fleeting and intimate moments out on the country’s streets.
Chitrakar photographs a wide array of religious festivals that take place every year in Nepal, a predominantly Hindu country that is also home to a large Buddhist community as well as several other religious groups.
In the image above, a girl stands in the doorway of her home as a street vendor adjusts a portrait of the Hindu god Krishna, during a festival commemorating the deity's birth.
